Sara Omi is an Emberá Lawyer and defender of Indigenous Rights. Founder of the Emberá Artisan Women Association (AMARIE-Emberá) that promotes the cultural and economical empowerment of Emberá Women through the rescue of traditional knowledge. President of the Territorial Women Leaders of the Mesoamerican Alliance of People and Forest and chosen to represent the Women in the Global Alliance of Territorial Communities.This year, for the second time in road, she has been recognized by Forbes magazine as one of the “100 most powerful women in Central America.” Also recently selected as the Coordinator of Panama’s Empowerment Plan for Indigenous Women.
